I purchased this chess set for my elderly brother who was an avid chess player. I am quite impressed with this game. The game offers three options: beginner/novice, match Against the Machine, and playing a person.Difficulty settings can be chosen between 1 and 22. The machine reacts very quickly, designating the chess piece to be moved and where. This game also records the moves taken by both the white and black pieces. An image of the chessboard is projected above the recorded moves, as each player positions their piece.Care must be taken to place the chess pieces within the center of each Square. If the piece is crossing a line, the machine will not proceed.Not being a chess player myself, this game is a great learning device. I am impressed.I would definitely buy this chess game again. I had to purchase an adapter for the cord to plug into a 110 outlet, but that was an easy fix. There is a green light which comes on to show when your game is fully charged. The game will go into sleep mode if left unattended.

Bought it for my 7 yrs and 9 yrs. They love it very much. It is pretty easy to set up, all the modes/puzzles are very interesting, especially there are 20 levels of AI difficulty, they can always challenge themselves with different levels, they also play together in 1 vs 1 mode, there are some hint available which is very useful for the younger one. They have a lot of fun with it.

This board shows me the possible moves whenever I lift a piece. Ideal for killing time without staring at the screen. The fact that it’s a physical chess makes it much more enjoyable. Can play with the board itself against the bot or play with another person.

Great for learning and teachingGreat buy

This is so cool, my son played it everyday after school. He learned it fast from this chess set, from level 1 on day 1 to level 4 on day 20. The light will up on each move which I think is really helpful for his skill improvement.

I almost sent the chess set back because it wasn’t functioning right. It was saying illegal move, or don’t move more than one piece at a time and a number of other things during play. I finally figured out what was wrong, and this is a word of advice to everybody, do not put any pieces in the drawers under the chessboard while it is on. The magnets on the chess pieces were confusing the chessboard. You can put the pieces in when the chessboard is turned off, or you’re transporting it, but make sure you take those pieces out before you turn it on. I think the manual should have had a warning about that. Now that I don’t have any pieces in the drawers the chess board is working great, and I love it.

Positives - #1 Magnetic pieces hold the pieces very well if you tilt the board (I play reclining slightly with it on my lap).#2 LED lights are a plus also (very necessary as the LCD display is amazingly small where I need a magnifying glass to process thru its menus)!Negatives - #1 The decision to have white pieces CRYSTAL CLEAR interferes with identifying pieces especially between Bishops versus Pawns. But all “White” pieces ( identification is harmed, even for Knights. #2 Piece storage - I purchased a small wooden storage box and used to place pieces removed from a game (learned a serious lesson with a misplaced rook, looking for it was very annoying). #3 Voice - terrible for those like me with hearing aids, so human-like. In fact primitive in content.—Summary - For young chess fans, it’s wonderful. Almost certainly most with excellent hearing and excellent sight! I asked for too much that the game was inadequate to satisfy. My desire to touch pieces versus my iPad chess apps ended in failure.

This electronic chess is a good tool to teach my son how to play. Nice quality pieces. It takes only little time to decide and analyze the scenarios. It's easy to carry around.
