Three, and that was all that the blade could do!

Q: Can you get BBS (baby butt smooth) shave in these?

Yes, but with a couple of caveats: 1) the blades are super-sharp, so be careful (and dull the corners slightly to prevent accidental gouges) and 2) shaving nooks and crannies around ears and nose is best done with a safety razor. My technique with straight razors is a work in progress, so I fudge that part of the shave. Beyond that, these razors are a revelation. Good luck.

Q: Is this a good way to get used to the shaving technique before going "full straight razor"?

This has been a great razor so far. It is a little heavier (it is completely made of metal, which is nice and sturdy) than what I used before so it took a little getting used to, but other than that it is a great product. It is a little hard to get the blade into the slot so you have to be careful, but nothing too bothersome. I would recommend it. Good Luck!!
