It seems stupid, but honestly it is a time saver.
I'm going to be honest. I've been looking at this thing for several months, but never actually pulled the trigger, despite the fact that one of my husband's favorite dishes is a soup that I make that requires, I either shred or cubed chicken after it's been cooked. Shredding takes forever. And honestly, I hate it because it leaves my shoulders and elbows sore from the repetitive motion. It was on sale for 10 bucks. I figured I'd give it a shot. Honestly expected to return it.I will never return this.I was actually able to shred a boneless chicken breast in less than 30 seconds. Considering the recipe requires three boneless chicken breast, that was quite a bit of time shaved off my effort. So it was well worth the price. Now I did use fully cooked boneless chicken that was actually still hot. And it worked perfectly fine. It even helped mix some of the seasoning that was still on the top into the shreds itself. But there's no way I would use this with cold chicken or with chicken that had not been cooked. It's plastic. It won't work with that. But if you have chicken that has been cooked and you just need to shred it while it's warm, spend the 10 or 15 bucks. You won't regret it.

Make sure your surface is absolutely level
I read the reviews and watched some of the videos. I decided to give this a try. Thank you to the man who said not to put in a whole chicken beast. I did, but I broke it up into pieces. I tried shredding the meat on the kitchen counter but the shredder moved all over the counter. I then took the shredder to my table and it worked great, my chicken was shredded in no time. My kitchen counter may look smooth, but in actuality it's not. I've had coffee cups wobble on the counter because it's not level. I'll try shredding again on the kitchen counter with less meat, but I suspect I will have the same results of the shredder moving all over the counter. I'll update after I try.So for those out there who have struggled with this shredder moving around, try a different surface. The weight is light, blade sharpness is good for shredding, suction is good as long as the surface is absolutely level. Storage of the device is ok, it won't fit back in the box once the handles are put on, but who needs the box? The plastic seems good quality, but time will tell.Ease of use is good and most anyone could use this. I no longer have the strength I used to and I was able to use this with ease once I got it on a level surface.

Chore turned to pleasure
I hate shredding chicken and I hate cutting chicken into cubes. Several of my favorite recipes call for cubed or shredded chicken so when I saw this shredding device on a cooking video I was skeptical but intrigued. I read the reviews and chose this shredder and WOW, I’m thrilled with how well it works! It really turned a chore into a pleasure for me. I haven’t used the handles, I just put the lid on and rotate the device with my hands. It works great and is easy to clean, I put the clear top in the upper rack of the dishwasher and hand wash the base just because I don’t want the anti-skid parts on the bottom to possibly deteriorate in the dishwasher. I have also used this to shred pork shoulder that was cooked overnight in the slow cooker and it was easier than using the 2 fork method although it was much stickier to clean afterwards. I highly recommend this product! Plus, it’s fun to use and pretty to look at- I got purple!

Works great but not as quickly as the videos
This gadget is really controversial -- people like it or they hate it. I like it. But it IS really over-hyped.Pros*It mostly works. I've had no problem shredding freshly cooked chicken. It does a lousy job at cold chicken and isn't designed for raw meat at all.*It stays where I put it on my granite countertop if I press hard enough to shred the chicken. The one place where it slipped on an uneven surface, I just put it on a silicone trivet.*I haven't had any plastic blades break off (yet) on either of these that I've bought for house and guest apartment. It's too expensive for a kitchen gadget for it to be disposable but it won't work well if a blade breaks off and I'd hate to serve broken plastic.*I don't precut my chicken breast after cooking. I just throw it in the shredder, put the lid on, and give it a few twists to get it started. A thick breast sinks down pretty quickly, after which I go back and forth and round and round. But this where some people get frustrated. I usually have to stop, pull the the unshredded chicken piece out, flip, and place it back in the shredder off-center and shred some more. For me, it's still faster than forks or Bear Paw shredders.Cons*Having to stop to flip the meat. Not the biggest problem but adds a step.*Clean up can be a pain. I scrape as much meat out as I can then rinse the residue into the garbage disposer. I don't lose much chicken but it's not nearly zero like I get with forks or Bear Paws. Then I wash in the dishwasher, top rack only. It's always been OK in the dishwasher. I would not use the shredder without a dishwasher -- too hard to clean.*The biggest complaint I have (and I knew it was coming) is the one a lot of people have: storage. It's as big and thick as a medium skillet and isn't easy to store in a small-ish kitchen. It might be impossible to store in an efficiency kitchen.

Changed my life in the kitchen
I can’t believe I’m leaving a review for a chicken shredder. Clearly I have no life. Now that I’ve stated the obvious let me convince you to buy this, plus one for everyone you know/have met. Thinking of how I’ve been shredding chicken with a fork for my 44 years on this earth (I can’t rule out that I didn’t shred chicken as a baby), horrifies me. The sweat, the exhaustion, the wasted time, what a tragedy. Don’t be like me. Change your life. Get this.
