The Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain Starter Kit: The Definitive

Enlightening
The principle behind the technique is that most of us have been crippled at an early age by feeling that we can't draw - usually at the stage where we want to move from the symbolic-style drawing of the younger child to the more realistic results a pre-teen or teen wants. So, the book forces you to distract/turn off your constraining left brain which attempts to short-cut the process and "simply" draw what's there.I'd always imagined that the reason I felt I couldn't draw was because I lacked the technique - in fact, it appears, the main problem is that I haven't been able to "draw what's there" but rather the perception created by my busy-body left brain. When forced to disengage, I've been able to produce some really nice results - especially of subjects I'd normally have been two scared to try (my sem-clenched hand, for example). This starter kit contains the original book and a workbook for you to draw in. It also includes a viewing pane which you can cut out, reinforce with some bits of cardboard, and use.Overall, an innovative and effective technique for getting past "artist's block" and discovering you can, after all, draw.

No requirement to buy both books. All you require is the workbook. Not the textbook.
The textbook is verbose. The Text goes on forever. According to the author both books will stand on their own. Wish I knew this before buying the set. Again according to the Author this workbook is smaller and more portable than the first edition. Again if I had known this before purchasing this edition I would most differently purchased the first edition workbook only. I have no interest in knowing the Author's ideas on how the brain works hence I would not have purchased the verbose textbook but the workbook appears to be good. The textbook is a very hard read. Where as the workbook is simply laid out and clear. Only wish I purchased the first edition workbook.

Very good aid to learning to draw
I'd seen this book recommended online by an artist as one of the only 3 drawing books he thought were worth buying and so far I'm very pleased with the results I've been able to produce. The book begins with exercises which are designed to engage the more creative parts of the brain. I have to admit that some of these seemed a bit weird to me, but I was astonished by the drawing I was able to produce with only the second exercise. I managed a very good rendition of a knight on horseback, something I never would have dreamed I was capable of before. I haven't delved very far into the workbook as yet, but so far I'm very impressed by the results

A precious gem
My first book that triggered and enhanced my creativity and confidence. It really is a life changing book.

instructions in german
Really annoying. I am a first time candle maker and the instructions are in German so it's difficult to work out how to properly thread the wick.

Drawing on the right side of brain
Brilliant just what is needed for an art course I am going on. The particular bonus is the accompanying workbook which enables theory to be put in to practice

A well written book that really works
I bought the orignal version of this book many years ago, I was impressed then, managing to draw something amazing in only a few weeks. Many years later I am now ready to continue my journey, I know I won't be disappointed.
