as others have noted, these brackets ARE thin, and calling them 'heavy duty' as they do is definitely a stretch - but despite their thin-ness they are made well and nicely painted, and with the diagonal brace they can BE thin and still be functional... too much weight and the diagonal brace will begin to flex - but just don't go over the rating of 66 lbs for a pair of them and they'll be fine... i wouldn't use them for a shelf in the garage where i might have all kinds of heavy stuff (tools etc) on them - but for a 48" x 11" shelf in the pantry that will just have boxes and cans of food on it, they'll be fine (especially since i will use 3 brackets for it - giving me up to 100 lbs rating)... you want REAL heavy-duty brackets - you will pay much more for them...

These are great brackets at a good price. However, the sheetrock anchors are terrible. I had plenty on hand that were much better so mounting was a breeze. I would buy them again but I would use my one anchors.
