I don't know if they help...but I love them
I love these balls..I don't know if they make any difference in my water quality, but interested looking and fish lay on them, eye them, play around them. I have plenty tanks and every tank has one. Real moss balls tend to get messy. These also look great with driftwood and almond leaves. I will continue to buy from this seller and this product. I poke them with corn cob holders and over night they sink.

Seeing is believing! Really does curb algae growth, used in conjunction with appropriate tank maintenance. Nice Tank Decor.
Will definitly be buying more of these. I have a Fluval Edge 6 gal with 10 Neons and a couple guppies, a frog. The kids and family love it. However I have this persistent algae growth like a carpet on the bottom of the tank. I clean the tank 40% water change every Saturday, 80% water change once a month, with a gravel sucker to try to clear the algae. I keep three sets of plastic plants, rocks, wood, etc, so I can rotate the algae laden plants and rocks out of the tank for cleaning. This Moss Ball has resolved nearly all of my algae problem. It's amazing!I put the Algae Ball in and did a 80% change on the same day. Typically I see algae growth on a couple days, maybe 4 days max and the plants have algae on them, then I would see the persisten Algae Mat on the gravel start forming again. Now I'm over a week into this water change and the tank looks awesome! Algae groth appears to be completely curbed. There is no growth on the plants, even the one directly under the LED light, no carpet, I can't even see any algae in the tank. This is great. I highly recommend. The one trick, this ball needs to be squeezed and filled with water when you get it which can take over 5 minutes. Otherwise it will float. Also, instructions say you should place it in active water flow. It doesn't like to stay in the water flow, it rolls away but eventually comes to rest somewhere with light water flow and works perfectly. I have attached a pic of my tank 7 days after I started using this. Note: I did a good 80% water change and cleaning, new filter media, at the start of using this.In my pic you can see the Moss Ball in the lower left corner, in a shadow. Notice the lack of algae growth on the plants.

More like a cat toy
These don't sink. Honestly it looks more like a cat toy, even has a bell inside. (?)

Patience is a virtue
These moss balls work but they take their time. My 10 gallon tank was super cloudy and reeked badly. I dropped in the moss ball and it took at least a day to sink to the bottom. The next day it removed the smell from my fish tank. Fast forward 5 days later it cleared up some of the cloudiness in my tank. I think these things take at least 2 weeks for the full effect. So please have some patience when you buy these. They're not an overnight miracle.

It floats
I got this “moss ball” because I wanted the aesthetic of one in my axolotl tank without the risk of getting a live one because (a) I rarely keep on the tank lights since axolotls can be light sensitive and (b) I didn’t want to introduce any hitch hikers that might be hiding on a live one.I recommend giving it a good rinse because some of the little hairs came off right out of the package like they would on a stuffed toy. I personally haven’t noticed any change in water quality but it’s only been a week and I had decent parameters to start with. The reason it gets a 3 is because it floats. I assumed it would need a few days to water log and fall to the bottom (I wanted to see if my axolotl with “play” with it or if it could add some enrichment) and it’s been about a week and it’s still floating. I’ve tried everything and it always floats right back to the top. I might buy another fake moss ball from a different brand in the future if the reviews said they eventually sink. But probably won’t buy this one again.

I like 'em!
When I first got this, I didn't really think it'd made a difference, but it definitely does!I have some in my 29 gallon planted tank with fish, and they love it! My gourami loves to pick at it and move it around the tank, and the cory cats like to hide under it. It really does make a quality in water clarity, too- I have a Fluval 205 in my aquarium and it has made the water eve clearer, which I didn't think was possible.I also have one of these in my 1 gallon breeding tank- I have seven Platty fry in there now, all about a quarter inch long- and they like to hide in/around it. It also helps keep the water fresher longer, so I don't have to do a ton of water changes every day.I have been keeping aquariums for around 15 years, and will definitely add this to my regular tank regimen- I love them!
