Katie and the Waterlily Pond

Splendid
This is a very well done series. I am from Europe and I was looking for books in order to prepare my at that time 2 year old boy to art museums. I tried this and since then we have purchased all the Katie's artistic adventure books. My child loves reading them together. He has also brought them to pre-K and his Montessori teacher has asked me to bring them all. I will highly recommend all of them. PS my child in now 5 and a half and he has been with me visiting a dozen of museums (from Picasso to Bruegel and Titian.

Jump into the works of Claude Monet!
This short picture book tells how the little girl Katie learns about Impressionism and the works of Claude Monet as she literally jumps into several of his paintings. It is a great introduction for children to the artist and his techniques.

I love the way she interacts with art in this series
I love the way she interacts with art in this series. This makes the paintings seem more accessible and captivating for a child to be able to imagine that you can "crawl into" the paintings.

Perfect for Preschool
I am a preschool teacher and we had done a unit on famous artist. This book was perfect for that! Every child sat and listened to the book. They were definitely entertained and it didn't bore them a bit.

Fun art history intro
The Katie series was something I was initially skeptical about but we really enjoy them. I only wish that the artists celebrated were more diverse.

We love them, even though the girl is now old ...
Purchased as a gift for my niece. We've been reading Mayhew's Katie books since I brought one back from a trip to England when my niece was about two years old. We love them, even though the girl is now old enough to read them herself.

Wonderful read for young and old
Wonderful read for young and old. My young children loved it and my 6 year old is now taking a watercolor class. She was inspired by the beautiful art reproduced within the book and the fact that Katie 'travels' into these famous paintings by Monet makes the story and the art very engaging for imaginative little minds.

Another great Katie book
Following on in the series this is just as good as all the others. Katie explores her favourite gallery climbing into the pictures of Monet. At the same time both intelligent and escapist this book gets children interested in famous paintings. The final page has a couple of paragraphs on each picture featured and, more importantly, where the originals are displayed. Children visiting the art gallery actually enjoy the visit when they find the paintings that Katie climbed into. Just don't try lecturing a very bored looking five year old about perspective like I heard a Grandma do at the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square when by comparison my daughter of the same age was wound up more tightly than a coiled spring trying to find the paintings she'd seen in the books.

Another lovely Katie book
Story is a bit similar to Katie's Starry Night but if you want more Impressionists then it has a few classic Monet pictures and the waterlilies don't disappoint.

Lovely story, damaged pages๐ช
The story looks lovely and I was so excited to share with my Year 2 class but unfortunately the book has come damaged and every page also has the damage๐ซ I am so disappointed. It doesn't stop me reading the story but it just isn't the same ๐ช
