It is just a stupid strap of velcro. No science, no technology. You will feel like a joker wearing it and it won't help your problem one bit. The most hilarious part is when you are trying to take a piss, it's once in a lifetime experience with this piece of circus equipment :)

This is an excellent product. My honey has a hernia and I had no idea these belts exited until I found this on Amazon. I received it in two days and immediately opened it to show him what I got him. After getting it on him and the pillows put in place he walked around with it on for several hours before saying anything about. But when he did say something it was nothing but good things said about it. He said it helps him when bending down to reach for something. It holds firm yet is so soft. The straps did not chafe his inner legs or groin area. And he really liked the fact that it is not noticeable under his Wranglers.My likes (being the lady of the house), I won't waste anytime having to search for the straps, its washable, and lastly I feel happy knowing it helps my sweetheart manage his discomfort.Positively Recommend this to those with groin hernias. He made it very clear that he would not be modeling the belt for my review no matter how much buttering up I did. So after a few good laughs I gave up.BUT you'll be happy to know,The item is as pictured at the top of this page.

This belt is great for comfort under clothes such as pants or shorts and capris. I don’t advise wearing it with a dress that clings to your body. If wearing it with a casual dress it’s fine.

Four stars because I didn’t like the fit. I measured when I ordered, I’ve had reconstruction surgery using lower abdomen tissue and fat, so… However, I bought the underworks version and have been VERY happy with it. Additionally, I don’t think this can’t be dried in the dryer, unlike the UNDERWORKS. But most of all, it’s the fit. It had to be greatly altered to come anywhere close to working as well as the underworks version. I sound like an advertisement for them.

Update: I have been using the hernia guard for quite a while (several weeks) and I have been alternatively wearing a different hernia guard that is more suitable for long-time sitting during long car travels. I still like this particular hernia guard for wearing when I am being active and because I could get this hernia guard in size XXL. I had acquired previous hernia guards from other sources, but each of them only offered the limited option of size XL. A prior hernia guard that suited me had wider velcro areas for fastening its straps, so I was able to adjust the angles of its velco straps to comfortable positions that suited me. The velcro on this current hernia guard will not allow the same angles. However, I can say that I have accustomized myself to the hernia guard's velcro fasteners, and I can suitably wear the larger size XXL because it does not chafe my skin.
