Works for small setup

Came home from work today to see it running dry but couldn’t diagnose what happened, could’ve been low water level from tank being bumped last night.I removed the sponge that came with due to the very strong chemical smell, but unit itself had no detectable odor and I rinsed it pretty well for good measure. The “flower basket” spins freely in the current and works fine, I actually missed it in the description before I purchased and was puzzled but intrigued by the concept. I’m using it in a 3 gallon bowfront critter keeper type container, and had to take an extension off of the intake to make it short enough to work. The flow control knob won’t stop flow completely but crudely allows you a degree of choice in how strong the flow is, I have it set to fill in the interest of getting maximum gph.Will update if longevity is an issue, but otherwise is a decent compact choice for a small aquarium.

It’s a great little filter, just what I wanted.
It worked out to be the perfect size that I wanted.I got a container from the store for my Fry guppies to grow out in, And this fit on the side of the container perfectly! I just cut a hole in the lid so that the filter could go on along with the lid. It’s nice gentle flow and you can turn it down if needed, I did add an intake sponge so that no fry would be sucked up, it is running and has been running for the last couple days and is doing well the fry are not born yet but the tank is getting ready for them. it’s definitely a small filter but for the price it’s a good deal and the description does say that it is small and it has the dimensions, I honestly thought it was going to be a tiny bit smaller, but I’m glad that it’s the size it is it’s absolutely what I needed.

Nice little filter!
Very quiet and smooth! We use it for African dwarf frogs and were extremely pleased that the intake isn't strong enough to suck them onto the tube and pin them there as we experienced with multiple filters purchased in pet chain stores. Lastly it uses a media sponge instead of filter bag, which makes maintenance a little easier. A few months after install there is not one issue.

Inferior product
Piece of junk.does not work.too small.i ordered it for a 10 gallon tank.it doesn't fit on the edge of aquarium. The pipes don't reach the water.had to buy another pump from the store.don't but this garbage.

It works.
Overall and performs just like any regular hang on back filter. It's just a miniature size of the regular ones. The only thing that I wish would be better as the flow. Other than that, it's perfect for my 5g. You might even get away with a 10g if the bioload isn't to much for it. The skimmer is worthless fyi....

Decent for the money
Great top water skimmer but noisy on a regular bases. Constant upkeep to keep water level high. Should be able to adjust the intake lower.

I don't know what going on but it isn't cleaning, filtering the tank right, and its a bigger unit than what was in there before??????????
