In theory it was a great idea
I was looking forward to this purchase. When I travel, Im usually carrying my Camelbak 32oz bottle and you can imagine how much space it takes in my purse! When I saw this written up in an article I thought it was brilliant. I just opened up my box and my first impression was that the silicon is very pliable - VERY pliable. It isn't stiff so then I started to wonder about the stability when it is filled with water. It didn't topple but it is worth noting that the middle ring (the largest circumference) is the only part aside from the cap that is hard so you need to hold it there. I just took some sips from the bottle and when capping it, the silicon gave way a bit. I don't like the fact that it isn't so sturdy and I will be returning this.

Super useful, no-brainer
You're at the airport with your own water bottle (good global citizen, you are!). Do you put it in your carry on bag and take up valuable space? Or do you clip it to the outside of your backpack and have it clanging around as you go through security and move around. Or perhaps you hold onto it with your one free hand as you search for a water source. Any which way you cut it, it takes up a lot of space, whether you are using it in the moment or not. This is why I tried a Hydaway. It collapses down to an inconsequential size, and it takes up almost no space. And when I need it (and only when I need it), I just pop it open, fill it with my beverage of choice, and enjoy. This is the second one I've purchased. I'm waiting for a third (it's called the Travel Pack) that comes with a carrying case that enables me to conveniently clip it to anything while also protecting. I'll review that once I get a chance to try the clip and carrying case.I have not tried their carbon filter addition yet, so I cannot comment on whether it's a worthwhile add on. The product is well made and despite it holding 25 oz., collapses down to a size that would fit into a large pocket or the palm of your hand. It's weirdly satisfying to collapse it down. I'm not sure how they pulled that off, but it feels neat and snug.

Not as sturdy in upright position unless almost empty.
I had a Valourgo collapsible water bottle that was stolen at my gym. After researching collapsible bottles, I bought two Hydaway bottles mainly because the indentation folds were more easy to clean than the Valourgo. However, this bottle is not as sturdy in an upright position as a pilar-type bottle. And when you start consuming and collapsing the bottle, it has a tendency to topple or doesn't collapse like an accordion that would otherwise create rigidity while preventing tipping over. I'm not sure of the purpose of having the biggest ring in the middle of the bottle. It seems to compromise its stability and balance. Tonight I filled the bottle and sat it next to my dinner plate. After taking a sip and setting back down, it toppled over and spilled the water contents. It is definitely not a sturdy-standing bottle, unlike the pilar-type bottles. I regret my purchases and wish I could return for refund.

Good bottle for active hydrating
I ordered mine for a week-long co gentian with meetings and trade show. I needed something less bulky than my 40 oz rtic insulated cup while doing all this in Vegas (very dry). It’s a great piece and I could hit the hydration stations frequently. I’m a straw guy (makes it easier to walk and drink than tilting this big bottle), so if it hat a straw lid (not easy as the body collapses into a little disc, so I may need to just get a silicone straw and go), that would be great. The other plus would be if the lid could have a tether so I wouldn’t have to be holding the lid while drinking and making sure I don’t put that lid down somewhere and leaving it behind, never to be seen again.

Just imagine you are drinking from an old tire
Yes, I followed instructions I found on the web to add baking powder to water and allow to soak. Waited an hour. Tasted of old tire. Tried it for half a day. Same result. Soaked for three days. No change.Wished they’d included the straw top in the photo, but they didn’t. I can live without it as it will be added to others on my caveat emptor shelf to remind me of things I should have been smart enough to satay away from.I could not recommend this for anyone I liked. A brilliant idea. Shame it takes wonder spring water and turns it in to toxic waste.

Cool bottle for light packing
I bought this primarily for theme parks. I don't want to bring a regular large cup or bottle with me to refill around the park, so this is a great alternative, especially now that you can't walk around and drink beverages with pandemic mask rules anyway. This lets me pour my drink in and take it on the go without spilling, and then fold it back up to stick in my small bag when I'm not using it. It's holding up so far but I've only used it twice, so I'm not sure about the long term durability. It does seem to be well made and a cool product for space-saving travel.

Great buy
Thank you to those who answered my question on freezing. It worked, I filled it 2/3 full and I was able to freeze it. Just, it sweats as it melts. There is the plastic smell even after washing with soap, just as others have mentioned. I just hope it goes away after multiple uses. I’m glad with my purchase. Great for my hiking, I don’t have to worry about carrying around empty plastic water bottle.

Pass...
I wanted to love this product and did a fair amount of research before deciding to go with the Hydaway, but it just didn’t live up to expectations. The first one I received and it’s replacement both leaked immediately from the seams. Like other reviewers, I too can’t get past the smell. Not worth the price.

Disappointing product quality
Really bad plastic smell which makes the entire bottle unusable. Rubber smell doesn’t go away even after 6weeks. Disappointing product quality.
