Eye relief requires very close eye-to-eye cup contact...
PROS: The "ED" designation is nicely marked in white letters along with "15-45x60mm" at the top of the objective lens hood, which is what led me to take a chance on this scope. The hood slides out to a maximum of 1.5"/40mm with smooth, snug movement at any desired stop. I could produce very little chromatic aberration with viewing white sunlit chimneys (at 10 a.m.) with good edge-to-edge illumination for its size. This scope is light-weight and balanced. Its dual focus design has a very good coarse/fine gear ratio with smooth movement and very forgiving fine-focus rotation. Package includes a black polyester/nylon bag with zipper and adjustable shoulder/hand carry strap and Velcro-flap divider inside to contain the scope and 12" sturdy, steel and aluminum, powder-coat-black-painted tripod with rubber feet. Supple, black rubber lens caps, both front and rear, are not tethered, but fit with a bit of snugness. The pkg. was delivered sooner than expected for a China order with US shipment and very securely packaged.CONS: Eye relief measures at perhaps 13mm (not 18-19.8mm as specified). Even if eye relief is evaluated otherwise, the fact is that the distance from the eyepiece lens to the rear edge of the (soft-fixed) rubber eye cup is 13mm (scopes with adjustable eyecups are typically only 2-5mm deep), and the problem is that a full FOV requires pressing one's eye socket firmly against the eye cup to force it to fold back a bit. And this heavy contact is necessary at all magnifications. Eyeglass wearers will need to remove their eyewear. Even with tripod locked, the needed pushing of one 's eye socket against the eyepiece causes unacceptable and continuous disturbance of the FOV, thus defeating the purpose of a tripod. If you're going to share this scope at the range or elsewhere, have some alcohol wipes ready to swab the rubber eye cup between users. I also saw an unacceptable loss of sharpness with modest distance (>100 yds.) and magnification (35-45X) in bright daylight. This lack of sharpness is a lens/prism deficiency in addition to, but unrelated to, eye relief deficiency. The severe lack of contact-free eye relief and the noticeable loss of detail/sharpness with moderate magnification and moderate distance just fails to deliver according to its "camera quality optics" description. I hope that returning it for refund will be hassle-free.
