Very sturdy bike
I bought two of these for twin daughters 8th birthday. I have to say they are AWESOME bikes! They are the perfect size and very well built! You will not be disappointed with this bicycle! This our first Kent bike and will always buy this brand from now on. Extremely pleased!

Cool bike. Needs some adjustment to make it work.
It's a good size bike for my 8 years old. It's a cool bike and she really likes it.The bad though:1. I've got big trouble with the front hand break. The handle doesn't release or get back to open position after release the break. I'm not a bike pro so I need to do some research and ask around to see what to do next.2. My daughter got somewhat smaller hands so she can barely reach or hold the breaks. I hope there's a way to adjust the break handle and make it closer to the bike handle?Size wise, probably this bike would fit better for girls age 8.5 or 9. My daughter is actually pretty tall to her age but still barely able to keep both feet on the ground while sitting on the seat (at lowest position already). The built quality, at least to me, is just so so. At first I can hear some weird scratch sound when my daughter's riding it then when I check it (rolling with hands), it seems the back wheel isn't aligned very well and I can see it swivel a little and touch the break pad to cause the sound. Release the pad a little bit helped though.

Are you kidding?
Wait for it: The front fork legs were not parallel and over half an inch too close together to install the front wheel. The front wheel was misaligned (required spoke adjustment) and already had paint damage at the axle. The front brake shoes were PERPENDICULAR to the rim (?!). The rear brake cable was too tight to install, and the bolt (& nut) supposed to be holding the handle in place were both loose in the bottom of the box. The front reflector (loose on the handlebar stem) was shattered. The paperwork that came with this said it was assembled and tuned, then partially disassembled for shipping. Absolutely not possible. This took over an hour of modification and adjustment to make it usable and safe, and thankfully I have the tools to do it. I have been assembling bicycles (in part and from individual pieces) for over forty years, and for a factory "assembled" bike this was an abject joke. If I had bought this from a store I would have returned it as soon as I tried to install the front wheel (step 1 in the manual!). However, time is obviously a factor and my child does not need to be concerned with these details. I will add as a positive note that the rear wheel assembly is in excellent shape, and no changes required. This listing indicated that the outside of the box would display what was inside, so we chose the Amazon Prime option to put it into a bigger, unlabeled box. It arrived in the factory packaging with a photograph of the contents on the side. At least I was home when it arrived, and was able to intercept it before the intended recipient (already home on winter break) saw it. A fair amount of blame is to be assigned here, and I'm not going to try to figure it out. If I ever buy something similar from a company I don't know, I shall do a bit more research before relying on them to do their job. My daughter will love it, and that is the only significant detail I am concerned with as of Christmas morning.

We purchased this bike for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas. Upon trying to assemble it on Dec 23, we found that the front fork legs were not wide enough to fit on the tire axle correctly! We had to take off pieces that are supposed to stay on, and even then it was a struggle to get on. We didn't even bother to try to finish assembling it because she wouldn't be able to ride it with the tire not properly attached anyhow. Luckily, Santa wrote her a note explaining why her bike wasn't ready to go, and she wasn't too upset. Now we have to try to figure out how to get it fixed so she can actually use it. besides these issues, she really likes the look of the bike and it seems like it will be a good product once the issue is fixed!

My husband assembled this bike in under an hour and said the directions were pretty straight forward however he had some problems adjusting the brakes. He's assembled 2 bikes before so he doesn't consider himself an expert so I'm sure someone with more experience will have an easier time with the adjustments. He commented on how heavy the bike was for its size but I guess that's how they keep the price low. My daughter loved the color and how cool the bike looked and how it was more of a big girl bike than her previous one. It was a little challenging for her to get used to the hand brakes because her hands aren't all that big but with a few adjustments she still managed to squeeze the breaks after a few tries. We're happy with our purchase and would recommend it if you're looking for a big girl bike.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. The bike arrived missing one front brake pad and with no tools to assemble it. The wheels also were slightly bent. For a company that has been making bikes for almost 100 years I would have expected better. The slight wobble in the wheels does not seem noticable when riding. I would have returned it but after spending 2 hours assembling it was easier to go pick up a brake pad, spacer and bolt but personally I'll never buy another bike online again. It was to much work for the savings I received.

Safety concerns
After assembling and testing out this bike for my daughter and then returning it I would not recommend anyone buys this bike. It was dangerously heavy for my 8 yr old, the bike is listed as weighing 34 lbs to her 50 lbs. She found it difficult to maneuver and stop easily. I think it is likely~ based on the heavy weight of bike and plastic components~ that this bike is being poorly manufactured using low grade materials to make a profit on Amazon where people have a hard time returning item because return shipping costs so much.
